Explore Nature at NorthPointe and Get Involved in Prairie Stewardship

NorthPointe Health and Wellness Campus has 122 acres of quiet serenity and restored rolling prairies. Heather Hasenyager, NorthPointe prairie steward and biologist, invites the community to join the volunteer restoration group if you have an interest. This involves working onsite to keep out invasive species and nurture native plants.

This spring, the prairie is entering its sixth year since planting. As the prairie develops and changes over time, the stewardship required to maintain the habitat shifts slightly. Many tasks take various amounts of time, maybe an hour or just a few minutes to walk through. For more information about the prairie, activities, or group stewardship opportunities, please contact Heather at hhasenyager@yahoo.com or 815/641-1462.

NorthPointe offers the public over two miles of walking trails. The NorthPointe team is focused on the transformation of this land to native prairie, also home to many species of native plants and a shelter for birds, butterflies and other animals.
